What specific reasons do you enjoy volunteering with CACUBO?
  • CACUBO is a fantastic way to meet people from other Colleges and Universities that I would never have had the chance to interact with otherwise.
  • I enjoy talking to them and learning more about how their organizations operate and it provides another perspective if we are looking at changing things at my University.
  • The projects are fun and it gives me something else to do that is outside of my day job.
How has CACUBO helped you in your career?
  • I think it has given me the confidence to speak up and allows me to enhance my resume with additional job skills such as project management and leadership.
What was the best advice given to you in your career?
  • Great leaders find ways to connect with their people and help them fulfill their potential. when a leader lacks confidence, their followers lack commitment.
Do you have a favorite quote?
  • "At the end of the day, you are in control of your own happiness. Life is going to happen whether you overthink it, overstress it or not. Just experience life and be happy along the way. You can't control everything in your life, but you can control your happiness."  by Holly Holm
What was the biggest a-ha moment in your first role in higher education?
  • I think my biggest moment was when I was offered an IT Operations position in the same department that I had been working for as a receptionist for the prior 1.5 years. Before the U, I was working in private industry and I was told "You can't do that, you're a girl" when I was applying for a higher-level job. At the U, I've had plenty of opportunities to advance and learn regardless of my being a woman.
