Nomination Remarks:
"2026 was Jacki's first time attending the annual conference in Omaha. Not only that, but she also served on the volunteer committee for food and events, which is a huge effort. Jacki stepped up and took on the challenge like a seasoned CACUBO volunteer. I appreciate all the work she did to help make the event a success."
What inspired you to start volunteering with CACUBO?
I had not volunteered in years when I saw an email seeking volunteers for the CACUBO annual conference. The email caught my attention that day. It was time to get involved again. I decided to take that first step, offer my time and experience, and jump in with both feet.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your volunteer work?
It is rewarding connecting and learning from one another, knowing you helped put something together that could not be done by just a few people. It brought people together, if only for a few days, to learn and collaborate and return to their institutions with new ideas and renewed energy. I also value the relationships built, new friendships, and getting out of my normal routine while working with this amazing group. The shared sense of purpose, teamwork, and community makes the experience totally worth the time.
What hobbies or interests do you have outside of volunteering?
I love sports, especially football and volleyball. During the fall, I plan my Saturdays around college football, especially Nebraska football. I also like playing pickleball, which gives me a fun way to stay active and hang out with friends.
