Volunteer Engagement Role or Committee:
Registration Coordinator
Volunteer Start Date:
The first conference I served on a committee for was in 2014 in Kansas City.
Nominated By:
Bob Swanson & Shari Mayer
Nomination Remarks:
"Brent has consistently gone above and beyond in his registration role, demonstrating exceptional dedication & commitment to CACUBO."
"Brent has been the Registration Coordinator for CACUBO for several years, tirelessly managing multiple event registrations each year, as well as managing the Welcome & Registration booths at the Annual Conference. While acting in this capacity, Brent has regularly volunteered for additional duties when a need arose and a steady hand was needed."

What inspired you to start volunteering with CACUBO?
I asked one too many questions with someone who was on the committee.  The next thing I knew, I was volunteering as well.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your volunteer work?
I get to work with a lot of fun people, many of whom I speak with regularly outside of CACUBO.
What is a memorable experience or story from your time volunteering?
It's hard to provide just one, but I'd say getting to meet and talk to some of the keynote speakers during the conference has been enjoyable.
What do you enjoy about working in higher education?
I can see firsthand the impact I have on student learning with some of my decision-making. Hopefully, it will all have a good impact!
What hobbies or interests do you have outside of volunteering?
I have coached a lot of sports thanks to my kids; baseball, softball, football, and basketball. When I'm not coaching, I enjoy playing those although I'm past my prime now and too injury prone.

The one that has always stuck with me is the book Good to Great by Jim Collins.
